Management Support System (MSS)

Thanks to the great efforts and hard works of MSS AG members, the manual has been revised and completed by the end of June 2003 which is called “Guidebook on OHS management in footwear industry”. Many thanks have been given to Mr. Niall Middlehurst, the former Technical Advisor of the Programme, whose great contribution to the initial design of the handbook was instrumental in making this work a reality. Thanks have also gone to Leather and Shoes Research Institute, Stameq, NILP, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry for their active contribution to the revision of the book. With their great knowledge and experiences, they have actually made the manual more vivid and perfect. The book has been highly appreciated by the Government’s authority and been approved by the Department of Industrial Safety Technology - Ministry of Industry – under the Decision No. 258/CV/KTAT-BCN on July 23rd, 2003 to be applied in the footwear industry in Vietnam. The capacity of footwear factory managers were then enhanced with the support of the book in reviewing the conditions, practices and procedures in their workplaces and in developing action plans for improvement.
